Waterproof and extremely breathable GORE-TEX Paclite fabric takes the wear-and-tear of the trail while TorsoFlo side zippers allow poncho-style ventilation when body heat needs to escape. As you've probably read, this is a GTX Paclite jacket, and if I understand it correctly the only real difference between Paclite and Pro (besides $200) is the breathability. I've jad this jacket for a few months now and have worn it in the pouring rain as well as on an extended bicycle tours. As for the rain, it behaved as expected. That is the water beaded up and rolled off the jacket and I was kept pretty dry. On bike tour it also behaved as expected. The pit vents kept me from over heating and allowed most of the sweat to evaporate out. The only reason I give it four stars in that it is so expensive. I was shocked on this one, the prices ranged from $100 for the Olive one I bought to $200 for Red, although the seller was not Amazon for the red one. (Just checked, the Olive one is now $92 and change in XL - oh well) But on to the coat.This is easily the best raincoat I have ever owned. 15oz but still feels substantial. Paclite Gortex, side zip from bottom to pits, high pockets above the belt line, front chest pocket, inner zippered pocket that the jacket folds into. I am 5-10 170lbs, wear a 42r jacket and ordered the large. I could have sized down to the medium but the extra room for layers is nice to have. It looks fine too as far as fit is concerned. I love the full length side zips. Not only great for venting, but you could actually use the back to cover a small daypack if needed. Pockets are also a plus and zipper quality looks very good. I am an avid fly-fisherman and backpacker. This jacket fits the need for both activities perfectly. I've had many other jackets in the $ 100.00 range but decided to invest more this time for the breath-ablity of Gore-Tex Paclite. After much research, I've found this to be the best option for a high quality light weight packable ran shell. There are others that cost 30-40% more and I do not see any major difference in quality and most have less features.
