Quality. This arrived from buying a pair of Mephisto Shark sandals which I have had for about a year now and worn almost daily, a partnership which has developed into a real love affair. (I live in Central America). At about 280 dollars it took me some thinking before I decided to buy a second pair. Had to be Mephisto and nothing but. As I was in the process of doing this I came across the Allrounder Men's Alligator Sandal. I read the info and the single review and decided to buy a pair for 189.95, still a lot of money. The main reason I bought these and not another pair of my beloved Sharks was the claim: "The cushioned anatomical footbed is removable for washing". THIS IS A FALSE CLAIM. The footbed is glued in there and I would have to soak the sandals in a bucket of thinner to get the footbed loose. I should downgrade the sandal more than a star for this reason but I keep it to... The item listed has all the 'Mephisto' branding on it but when I received the sandals it had 'Outlander' on it and no branding on it for Mephisto. I could instantly tell it was inferior and poor quality. My husband has owned his original pair of Mephisto alligator sandals for over five years and he's claimed they are by far the most comfortable pair of shoes he's ever owned in his entire life. If I could give this rating no stars I certainly would. These sandals are great for street walking, short trail hiking, most summer activities, and daily casual wear. Same comfort as a high end walking shoe, but the highly adjustable padded velcro straps for just enough support. Excellent treadwear. Even with my above average weight and moderate pronation, the Allrounders have outlasted all my other high end walking shoes. Expensive, but will last many years for most outdoor enthusiasts so is a good investment in happy feet. |
